AI assistants
Use FedXchange from the assistant you already use
FedXchange has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, the open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. Your assistant can do the setup with you in a chat, under the same rules as the web app.
Connecting
Two ways to connect
Add this server address to your assistant:
https://mcp.fedx.io/mcpSign in with OAuth
For Claude Desktop and claude.ai connectors
- Your assistant sends you to FedXchange to sign in.
- You choose which agency the connection works in.
- A consent page shows what the assistant will be able to do. Nothing connects until you allow it.
- Remove the connection in Settings at any time; it stops on the assistant's next request.
Use an access token
For Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and other tools that can send a header
- Create a personal access token in the web app. It's shown once.
- The token acts as you, with your role, and nothing more.
- FedXchange stores only a hash of it. Revoke it whenever you like.
What an assistant can do
The same actions as the web app, no more
An assistant works in one agency, with the role you hold there, and can do only what that role allows.
Reads
- Find your agency on the FedRAMP Marketplace
- Propose a service for each function from your authorizations
- Show the choices for one function, your agency's listings first
- Show your current choices and anything that needs checking
- Show your names for offices and roles
- Show governance changes and the documents each one affects
- Show when each source was last checked
- Show recent changes to your setup, and who made them
Changes
- Set the service for a function
- Accept proposals you agree with
- Set your agency's name for an office or role
- Act on or dismiss a governance change
Every change takes two steps. The assistant first shows you a preview in plain words, and FedXchange makes the change only after you say yes. Your role is checked before the preview, so you never see a change you couldn't make.

Your AI, your terms
FedXchange runs no AI model of its own
Documents are written from your confirmed answers by a fixed generator, not by AI. When you use an assistant, your text goes to the assistant you chose, under your agency's agreement with that provider. FedXchange never sees a model key.
Before you connect
- Check that your agency allows the assistant you plan to use, under its AI use policy.
- Connect from an account your agency manages, not a personal one.
- Remember that what you type in the chat also goes to the assistant's provider.
