The provider's description

Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) is a managed VMware-as-a-Service offering purpose-built-for-VMware workloads which runs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and bare metal server deployments. GCVE enables enterprise customers to run VMware virtual machines natively in a dedicated, private software-defined data center (SDDC) within Google Cloud. The GCVE solution allows users to move their on-premises VMware components into a cloud environment without having to majorly disrupt workflows. The primary customer benefit is being able to use existing VMware workflows without having to worry about infrastructure or hiring VMware-adept personnel.

GCVE deploys an entire customer VMware suite stack on Google Cloud Extension hardware. Google Cloud Extensions are colocation centers (COLOs) housing Google production spaces (GPSs) containing Google-owned hardware running GCVE services. This environment includes ESXi (hypervisor), vCenter (management), vSAN (software-defined storage platform), NSX Data Center (network virtualization and system security), and HCC (application migration and workload rebalancing).
